mine is a biosilk flat iron and it does the opposite from other ones. On mine if the red light is flashing it means its hot (:
If its hot when you put your hand near it its probably ready.
I'd just use it, its probably like mine.

Hope that helps :)
Merry Christmas !

You already own a very nice flat iron. Save your money. There are so many products out there that claim to have something that the other products don't have.

Most of the time, the type of shampoo and conditioner, how you shampoo and condition, the weather, do you blow dry or not, the type of brush you use, the temperature of your iron, and what styling products you use, and how you use the iron, all contribute more significantly than your choice of iron.

Yes there are some irons out there that are better than others, but as I have already said, You own a very nice one.

I watched this video. First, this girl claims to have thick hair. She does not. My daughter has such thick hair that when you gather it to a pony tail you have a hard time keeping the hair together to get a pony tail wrap around it! That is thick hair!

If you use good products and techniques on your hair, you can minimize damage and quit worrying about going bald!

You do not have to spend hundreds on products but you certainly get what you pay for. If you use 99 cent suave on your hair you could do better. The ph of this product to very high and damaging. The very expensive brands do not offer much that is exclusive in ingredients to the middle of the road products either.

Try John Freida or Bed head. Also try a heat protector for flat irons. You can also try protein treatments to try and improve the dryness. Keep in mind that with really thick hair, you may have different hair types at the base of your neck vs around the face. Take this into consideration when conditioning.

Using the right brush and brushing techniques is also very important. Wet hair is very fragile. Using care when brushing and using a good brush is a must. The best brush for long thick hair is one for wigs!

You can get the generic shampoos made by Suave and they are EXACTLY the same. I have a ceramic flatiron from Sallys that is not a Chi and it works really well. I just use Rusk Thermal STR8 Ceramic Styling Spray before I straighten it. I did buy that at the salon though. The shampoo I got at walmart.
